Virtual Conference

I have submitted a lecture on Finnish glassmaking to Glass Art Society’s virtual conference happening May 21-23. Originally the conference would have been held in Southern Sweden – however due to the unexpected situation, the conference was cancelled.

As an consolation GAS is organizing Virtual Conference that can be seen at glassart.org website starting from May 21st.  There’s quite an interesting list of presentations : lectures, demos, etc.

Glassdrunk?

Such fun! I’ve seen plenty of glass, demos, lectures and great people on my US excursion. Now I feel totally jet-lagged and glass-drunk. Glass Art Society’s Conference 2016 offered a lot and I was pretty overwhelmed by the scale of Corning Museum of Glass and the great facilities they have. I had never before considered making glass art as spectator sport, but I was proofed wrong!

And of course I had to tour around in New York City. I saw only a glimpse of all the museums and galleries the city had on offer. And for the first time classic pop-art (greetings to Warhol, Lichtenstein, Hopper and friends) made more sense than in schoolbook pictures. That imagery had grown from the buildings, items and advertisement around…

All in all I feel educated, good excursion to a world of art and glass in a different scale. Thank you GAS, Corning and New York!
