Here are some pics from this summer. I have been working on some new artworks after the spring’s lockdown. As you all I am still a bit worried how the fall will be like- but at the moment I am just so happy to be at work.
Also worth mentioning, many thanks for Arts Promotion Center Finland for supporting artists through the tough times. I lately received their grant for artistic work, meant for designers and artists whose work and income had been effected by the lockdown.

Voipaalan taidekeskuksen Herkkyyskausi -näyttely on auki 5.11. asti. Näyttelyssä on teoksia Carita Ahlqvistilta, Ella Varviolta, Katri Heinäseltä, Sampsa Indréniltä ja Leena Illukkalta -esillä on monenkirjavia tekniikoita ja materiaaleja, pellavasta tussipiirrokseen ja lasista kirjontaan. Taidekeskus Sääksmäellä on auki ti-pe 11-17, la-su 12-18. Tervetuloa!

Herkkyyskausi is Voipaala Art Center’s fall exhibition, displaying interesting variety of different materials and techniques from a bunch of artists: Artists: Carita Ahlqvist, Ella Varvio, Katri Heinänen, Sampsa Indrén, Leena Illukka. The exhibition is open until 5.11.
Also worth of visiting is the historic hill fortress of Rapola, just beside Voipaala art center. The hill itself has been formed during ice age, and it was turned into fortress in Viking Age or even earlier… So if you’re into hiking, history and arts, definetaly recommend visiting Voipaala Art Center and Rapola hill fort. I’m such an old-school designer: these pictures present some of my most essential tools for product (or artwork) development: pens, brushes, rulers, plaster wheel, hands on experimenting with material. Many thanks to co-operative Pinkka‘s ceramic studio and Katzstudio glassworks (both in Tampere, Finland) for being part of this early stage of prototyping. Pictures of the outcomes coming up later…
It’s not easy to photograph glass – but I have tried my very best and learned some new tricks. Here are photos of some semi-recent artworks: Horseplay, Spring Flowers and Deep Blue Sleep. All these are unique art pieces, mouthblown glass, handmade in Finland.
